Mid Pines has created an album of soft, temperate, delicate electronica melodies. The ambient movement is ambitious, without being overtly pressing or mathematical. The album's title refers to a Yoga position known as the “Corpse Pose,” where the body lies down and consciously drawing out dense, negative energies into the earth. The album cover art is a pen-and-ink figure sketch of what appears to be a sitting monk. The composition and arrangement of Mid Pines' electronica would befit an educated, or neophyte listener of ambient and down tempo electronica. The resurgence in electronica of the “digital breath” phenomenon is philosophically attributed to both track titles, and musical movements on Corpse Pose. This nine song album should inspire the first or last song in a play list, and is yet another successful entry in the expanding catalogue of Canadian electronica.
