Future Pilot A.K.A. ( )

Vs A Galaxy Of Sound
Sulfur ( )
Calling this two disc set a "...collection of a series of ongoing collaborators from around the world", Future Pilot AKA has set himself the bold task of bringing to you, the listening public, a cohesive, interesting and quality set of diverse songs and beats. Ranging from ambient reflections and dubbed-to-the-gills riddims to acid cool jazz and bust out break beats, there is something for everyone on this set. With a collection this dynamic, there are sure to be some misses, and when Future Pilot misses, he does so with the fury of Francis Gary Powers plummeting to earth. But when he hits, you feel like the cartoon jetsetters depicted in Wallpaper Magazine: card-carrying members of the mile high club and more than willing to induct all the beautiful people in the world. The main problem with this disc is the fact that Future Pilot AKA has decided that every track should have an intro that says (in a suitably futuristic, processed voice) the same thing over and over and over...well you get the picture. If it weren't for these introductions, the album would be ideal background music for the next time your world-weary friends show up complaining about the trappings of modern society and praising the unspoiled beauty of Laos. Your travels might extend only as far as that hick town 50 miles from home, but "A Galaxy of Sound" can, at the very least, make you feel like a globetrotter, with the stories about the utterly annoying tour guide to back you up. Recommended Tracks: "Streling", "Fresh Milk!", "Indians at N.A.S.A."
