Shot straight from the dance floors of  Mars onto my turn table (so to speak), this disc has also cracked my evasive ‘top ten releases of 2007.’ Ignore all marketing and promo for this band, they are straight up the new generation of Scratches, I mean the Lee Perry type. The King Tubby meets Madge type.
This album caught me within the first three notes strung on the bass. The production bass sound is awesome. This is the kind of bass that rumbles down the street about 5 car lengths behind you as you head to the pub for ladies night. The mastering dancefloor friendly efficiency of Version Excursions is fantastic. Its precisely how I would want the first Invisible Man solo project to sound..
The tracks are cover versions of songs from genres well known to gapsters, to hidden gems of jazz snobbery. Some work extremely well, some, well.. have honestly taken a step too far. Land of 1000 dances sounds like it is being performed by the American Idol finalists at the start of the final 8 show. I do understand the attempt at the Soul Blenders. On the other hand tracks like Miss You have already cracked my dancefloor seems, holes that will help me throw more artists like Max Romeo out to the masses.
Move on Up is the album closer. The track haunts me in my sleep, my day time desk jockey thumb in my ass job and all the way down to being my sound check song at the Mod Club Winnipeg. (shameless self promotion)
The Dynamics are a very ingenius act that I really look forward to hearing more from. I hesitate at some of the cover songs chosen, but only because I am an old man and Madonna does not do anything for me since the black lingerie over spandex days. Most tracks here are outstanding groovestyle reggae and dub. If you enjoy anything along the likes of Easy Star and the All Stars, pick this up immediately.
