Bring 'Em In

This one feels like it should be on vinyl in your DadÂ’s collection somewhere in the basement, situated between The Rolling Stones, The Animals and a couple records down from The Beatles. Unlike The Hives, The Strokes and The White Stripes, which this band will be compared to, this actually feels like it SHOULD have been from the '60s garage-rock movement, right down from the production of the music to the album cover. The first half is a bit more upbeat and undeniably catchy; "sweet ride", "the band" & "to china with love" are highlights, as well as "paralyzed" which sounds like it could be a long-lost Beatles song. The second half starts shakily with "p.u.s.a." and "little boy" which sound a bit too bubblegum for my tastes, before the motown soul of "lady" and the last track, "lauren's cathedral". Sandwiched inbetween is the title track, which is one of the few real hard-rocking numbers which include the first track and single "Sheepdog", the latter of which is fairly catchy, but not as good as their more garage-rocking songs.
