There is something to be said about small victories that put glowing smiles on your face. Even though the real world may be a certain way, it is still perfectly legal to poke fun at, and shed a light on the absurdities of what is. Scottie’s Cut and Paste Project’s slicing and dicing of President George Bush and his Administration’s speeches, newscasts, popular culture and anything else this guy can get his hands on, is one of those tasty treats. There’s just something about hearing George Bush’s voice pieced together so that he says things like “you will never shake the will of the small little penis, I love them of course...� and “by the way when the president of United Sates says something he had better mean it, firm penis, firm penis...�, as heard on the track “George’s Penis�. But on that same note, there’s something kinda scary about hearing, what sounds like Donald Rumsfeld’s unadulterated voice saying �this is the mosque in An-Najaf, and you can see that they have all kinds of religious instruments called rocket propelled grenades and AK-47's, that’s what they do in their mosques� at the outset of the disco beat track “Ode to Donald Rumsfeld�. Yikes!! And for Mr. Scotty, nothing is off limits. Bowling for Columbine, Enigma, Fight Club, ELP, Star Wars, Raggedy Anne, 8 mile, Run DMC, John Cougar, DUNE, the Repo Man, the Trailer Park Boys, Frank Barber, John Stewart, Paula Zahn, Paul Martin, Sponge Bob Square-Pants, James Taylor, Frank Zappa, Al Franken, the Soup Dragons, Dick Clarke, Collin Powell, Helix, A Few Good Men, Tron, Leonard Nemoy, William Shatner, Jope Cocker and Michael Jackson are all fair game. Even if these pop-collage tracks lightly stoke the flames of rhetoric that burn up our television screens daily, these different phases of Scottie’s Cut and Paste library are pretty fun to listen to. Highly recommended intelligent and funny political plunderphonics. Laughing is sometimes the best way to deal with harsh topics.
