This September release includes nine three to four minute tracks. It is astounding enough not to bore; with quality thrilling vocal strength, nice drum rolls, and skillful guitar riffs that accommodate the energy and vibe of post-hardcore punk rock music. This recently formed Vancouver-based group is comprised of two independent Canada West bands; Jakartah and Last Plague,and Angry's talents are reminiscent of Scandinavian bands Minus, Fidel, and One Morning Left.
Wild Ox Shangri-La rocks the head and moves the body. Renowned for their live shows out west, the four-piece group has produceda stunner of an album with lyrical and musical explorations into post-modernism. Wild Ox Shangri-La is anti-romantic and skeptical. The songs are exciting, in depth, but not without substance. Angry uses a variety of instrumentation including contemporary lyrics that explore the disdain of the mundane in the everyday. The track “Rock Sword” includes the lyrics: "I'm judging you so why don't you deal with it?” This is an album you should invite into your Canadian punk-rock discography.
