Johnny DeMairo is a name well known in the underground scene as a purveyor of House Music.  Back in 1994 he dropped the first bomb with Kenny Dope with The Bucketheads moniker on ‘Whew’. After several years and an amazing array of releases on the Henry Street Music label they dropped Henry Street Music: The Story So Far - 1993 To 1999. Now we take a step forward and backward to celebrate all the magnificent productions that are familiar to a lot of fans and listeners but also a couple that never got to leave the studio to the world. With a lot of the bigger than life 12” singles that were released disco was the main backbone that drove all the rhythms and many a dance floor. Still a great addition to any set Johnick is here with ‘Summer Flight’. It’s a perfect tune to get any floor itching for a warm groove surrounded by soft sensual guitar licks and a jazzy movement. Fresh off his 1^st 12” Dirty Harry drives the deep with ‘Funk Daze’. A slick and soulful melody rolls across a thick bass line and layered kick drums to give that analog sound that can never be duplicated. Markus Schulz & C.L. McSpadden come in with a disco energy that can’t be harnessed for one individual hence the collaboration. ‘Do What Cha Like’ signals the early beginnings of tracky disco house which later DJ Sneak would be crowned king of. Mike Delgado runs in the same vein with ‘Soul Good’ the hyped up pitch and looped groove get your body moving immediately without hesitation. Going back into the early stages of dramatic music with soul and spatial drenched sounds DJ Duke on ‘D2-D2’ was the individual to push forth this style with ease. You might recall the many releases on the Power Music labels that held various dance floors in awe for many years. If you enjoy just sinking your tracks and perhaps having a little Latin flare added the piano keys of ‘Heaven’s Piano’ will guide to said place. The Eltingville Project pieced collectively a dreamy song but still having the downtempo’s genre being the allure here. I’ve always been happy to back track into the golden years of House music and this is no different. This is a joyous blend of all styles that any “House Head” will enjoy.
