Vancouver's The Fugitives have made a name for themselves by relentlessly touring the folk festival scene and have become much beloved in Canada and many other countries. Their playful mix of folk, jazz and indy rock is infectious. Eceentrically We Love is their second full length album and the follow up to the Find Me EP from 2009, which was well recieved by college radio. This albums finds the band sounding a bit more stripped down than previous efforts, with the focus on vocal harmonies of the four band members and on the plunky folk rhythms of the band. Being a folk band from Vancouver, they recruit a lot of the usual suspects to collaborate on songs, like famed violinist Jesse Zubot. While the sound of the band is on the folky side, The Fugitives also cultivate a light ensemble indy rock sound, similar to a more rootsy version of The Polyphonic Spree in places too, making this a great genre-crossing style album. The playful melodies hear on the album will undoubtedly be much more fun when performed live, which is where the band truly shines. They'll probably be in your town soon.
